What the law says
How child custody works
When parents separate, it is necessary to decide who the children will live with, how important decisions will be made and how time with each parent will work. This can be done by agreement, approved by the judge, or decided in court proceedings.
It is the rule under the law. Both parents decide together on school, health and routine, even if the child lives with one of them.
Stays with one parent when the other does not want custody or when sharing is not possible.
The parent who does not live with the child is entitled to visits and vacation periods, clearly defined.
If there is a risk of domestic or family violence, joint custody is not applied.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Does joint custody mean the child lives half the time in each home?
Not necessarily. It means decisions are made by both parents. Residence and the visitation schedule are arranged separately.
Who pays support under shared custody?
Joint custody does not eliminate child support. The amount depends on the child's needs and each parent's income.
Can the agreement be made without a long lawsuit?
Yes. The agreement can be submitted to the judge just for approval, which is usually faster.
Do you serve clients outside Goiás?
Yes. Service can be provided remotely, with video meetings.
How much does it cost?
After the analysis, the firm sends a written fee proposal before any engagement.
